Story of Stuff

This is old news to some of you; perhaps new to others.  If you haven’t yet viewed this little 20-minute video, then you’re due.  If you’ve got friends, kids, or other people in your life, have them watch it with you.  I’d venture that some sort of quality conversation will arise from something that’s said.
It’s [...]

I’ve become kind of taken with a magazine called AdBusters.  Magazine subscriptions don’t seem worthwhile to me, but I pillage the library’s stock frequently.
If you’ve never flipped through an issue, let me describe it this way: I’m not sure I’d let my kids read it, but I’d definitely talk about its content with them.  Add [...]

On Sunday, I’m starting a summer teaching series on “Ten Words for a Beautiful Life”. It’s another look at the “Ten Commandments”.
Some internet searching led me to this version. I’m not sure I’ll be using this on Sunday, but it worth a post here!
Enjoy these more-timeless-than-I-realized words (translations are included just in case!)…

Thursday Sports Report

Today’s been a fun day in the sports world…
On the grass of Wimbledon, Ms. Sharapova got beat today by a woman ranked #154 in the world.  On her heels, Andy Roddick gets bumped from the men’s draw.  Everyone loves an upset, but there had to be a special pleasure for some viewers as (yesterday) Novak [...]

Things learned while watching ranged from a number of “Hmmm.  [...]

Donkeys and Oxen

Every so often, I find myself reading parts of the old Jewish laws (Exodus-Deuteronomy). While I enter feeling confident that I’ll find something of value, I confess to a fair bit of shrugging when I read about what could or couldn’t be eaten, how it should or shouldn’t be prepared, and what objects were [...]

CFL Blessing

Another season is upon us, and you already know it’s going to be a good one…

Friday night’s game was played during a period of blue skies, minimal wind, and comfortable temperatures… all this after half a week of rain and cold. As happy fans slept Friday night, the rains fell again. A sign [...]

Fathers

Give my best to your papa this weekend.  It just may be that one of these videos was made with him in mind.

Coach Holmes?

Long-time fan favourite Corey Holmes was let go by the Roughriders this past off-season.  His name has not yet resurfaced on any team’s roster. The link below leads to a great story printed today on what the future might hold for this fine young man of faith.
